THE EFFECTS
The dimensions that strengthening and gaining endurance will affect are not only the physical aspect, but it will be a key domino effect to my mental, emotional and social health. Managing my stress will also be crucial in this step, as it is what will keep me going and motivate me to stay on my feet.
As per the physical it will affect my body size and shape, and it will increase joint mobility and stability. Having previously injured my knee, strengthening the surrounding muscles will reduce pain and increase the ability to do more physical activities. Doing so it will affect my emotional health as my body shape and muscle weakness is what has been the stressor in my journey, as it has taken me away from my passion. Being able to play again would stabilize my mental well-being as it would feed my emotional status of self-confidence. Which would then lead to my social bonds, as I would please the feeling of interaction and belonging with a group. I’d also have my social support of my team.
This change would affect my overall health because it would consist of me being harmonized with myself. Soccer gives me my centre and a sense of nirvana. This would further my overall well-being because it would reduce my factors of: depression, hypertension, stress, and risks of heart diseases. Not being able to play gives me a sense of imbalance which then affects my psychosocial which then affects my health. These changes would impose achievement in all aspects.
My predisposing factors would be my past experience in playing competitive soccer. It has given me the knowledge in fitness and what to do to strengthen the muscles as we had our personal fitness trainers educate us in what exercises and nutrition. My enabling factors would be that I have accessible facilities such as the Humber gym where I could go to work out. The resources of the internet are also a positive enabler as it can further educate me in exercises due to the contraindications I may have from previous injuries. Negative enablers that can work against me is the physical, mental and emotional factors, to reinforce these I have my psychologist to help me with the mental and emotional factors and as per the physical I have my massage therapist who can relive possible pain. Another, reinforcement is that I have my best friend who has gone through a similar situation and has the same goals as I do.
